  • Bryan

    Dr. Bryan T. Torres is an Associate Professor of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Georgia (UGA). He is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Prior to returning to UGA, he served as an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and the Director of the Motion Analysis Laboratory at the University of Missouri. He received his DVM from the University of Georgia and after graduating he stayed at UGA for an internship and then worked as a small animal general practitioner in the Atlanta-area for several years before returning to UGA to complete a research fellowship, a surgical residency, and a PhD in Physiology. He has research interests in gait and motion analysis as well as osteoarthritis and pain management.

  • Chris

    Dr. Chris Frye is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and am currently an Associate Professor and Section Chief of Cornell’s Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. His love for the sporting dog has inspired my travels and experiences from the frigid but beautiful Klondike for sled dogs to becoming lead veterinarian for the Westminster dog show. He is a co-director and canine consultant for the Cornell Regenerative Medicine Center. My research and clinical interests include interventional pain management, orthobiologics, musculoskeletal ultrasound, sporting dog medicine, and geriatric mobility. He enjoys spending time with family 2 kids and my wife, particularly outdoors.

  • Christina

    Dr. Christina Montalbano is a board-certified specialist in Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Integrative & Mobility Medicine Service at the University of Florida. She earned her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a specialty internship and residency in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at UF. After briefly stepping into private practice sports medicine and rehabilitation, she returned to UF faculty to focus on training the next generation of sports medicine and rehab clinicians. Her professional interests include clinical research, biomechanics, outcome measures, and integrative approaches to pain and mobility. She is passionate about veterinary education, mentorship, and building collaborative research that translates directly to improved patient care.

  • Denis

    Dr. Denis J. Marcellin-Little is a distinguished veterinary orthopedic surgeon with a rich academic and professional background. He graduated from the French veterinary school of Toulouse in 1988 and completed his internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital in Florida. His career in veterinary medicine began with a small animal surgery residency at North Carolina State University, where he served as a faculty member from 1994 to 2017. Dr. Marcellin-Little joined the University of California, Davis in 2017 and has since become a professor of orthopedic surgery and department chair. His research interests include the medical and surgical management of severe joint disease and limb deformities, and he is actively involved in the field of physical rehabilitation in companion animals. Dr. Marcellin-Little is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and a charter Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.

  • Duncan

    Dr. Lascelles is the Dr. J. McNeely and Lynne K. DuBose Distinguished Professor of Musculoskeletal Health, and Professor of Translational Research in Pain and Surgery. Since his PhD training at Bristol, UK, he has devoted is professional career to improving our ability to recognize and treat pain in animals. His research program (Translational Research in Pain [TRiP]) develops methods to measure pain associated with spontaneous disease in animals and seeks to understand the underlying neurobiology with the goal of improving our understanding of how to control pain in companion animals, and facilitating analgesic development in human medicine. He is director of the Comparative Pain Research and Education Centre (CPREC). He has authored over 270 peer reviewed research papers and reviews, over 370 research abstracts, and ~ 30 book chapters

  • Felix

    Dr. Duerr is a faculty member in the Small Animal Orthopedic Medicine and Mobility service at CSU. He is passionate about finding new treatment options for animals with mobility concerns. Dr. Duerr believes that translational, clinical research has the ability to not only improve the health of individual animals but also to make a difference for other pets and people. His passion is solving problems that impact quality of life related to musculoskeletal problems with a particular interest in osteoarthritis. Dr. Duerr completed his veterinary degree in Germany followed by internships in Canada and his surgery residency at CSU. He spent a number of years in private practice before returning to academia in 2011. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS), and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR).

  • Kristin

    Dr. Kristin Kirkby Shaw is a small animal surgeon and rehabilitation specialist whose clinical and research work centers on orthopedic surgery, osteoarthritis, and chronic pain management. She earned her DVM, MS, and PhD from the University of Florida, where she also completed a residency in small animal surgery before serving as a clinical instructor for two years. Kristin spent a decade in specialty referral practice and five years in industry specifically working on therapeutics for pain and arthritis. She is now an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and serves as President of the Veterinary Orthopedic Society (2025-2026). Kristin is the founder of Canine Arthritis Resources and Education (CARE), an educational platform offering practical, evidence-based resources and tools for veterinary professionals and pet caregivers. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is co-editor of the textbook Canine Osteoarthritis and Pain Management: A Practical Approach to Diagnosis and Management (Wiley, 2026).

  • Laurent

    Dr. Laurent Guiot graduated from the University of Liege (Belgium) in 2004 and completed a general internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the same institution. After a year as international surgical fellow at Michigan State University, he completed a surgery residency with a focus in minimally invasive osteosynthesis under Dr. Dejardin’s mentorship. He became ACVS boarded in 2011 and is a founding fellow in Minimally Invasive Surgery and in Joint Replacement Surgery. In 2016, he created the Bone & Joint Center at ACCESS in Los Angeles where he currently works as an orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Guiot’s major interests are orthopedic trauma and joint replacement surgery. He is committed to the improvement of patient care through the development of surgical techniques, instrumentation, and implants used for the treatment of orthopedic patients. As part of his commitment to improving surgery, Dr. Guiot is engaged with several organizations, including the ACVS as a regent, the AO as the chair of education in North America, and the Veterinary Orthopedic Society.

  • Lindsay

    Dr. Lindsay Elam is a faculty clinician in the Orthopedic Medicine and Mobility service at Colorado State University (CSU). Her professional journey is defined by a commitment to advancing the standards of veterinary sports medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Elam earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Florida (UF), a dual-degree background providing a unique perspective on the intersection of individual clinical care and broader population health. Following her doctoral studies, she completed a specialty internship in Integrative Medicine and a residency in Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Elam’s academic career began at the University of Florida, where she served as a faculty member from 2016 until 2020, before joining the esteemed orthopedic team at CSU. Her clinical and research interests center on the multimodal management of osteoarthritis and the optimization of diagnostic techniques for mobility assessment in dogs. By utilizing objective data and innovative therapies, Dr. Elam is dedicated to improving the quality of life for canine athletes and aging pets alike.

  • Stan

    Dr. Stanley Kim is a board certified veterinary surgeon and recognized leader in small animal orthopedic surgery, with expertise in total joint replacement, cranial cruciate ligament disease, minimally invasive fracture repair, and 3D surgical planning. He has authored over 100 peer reviewed publications and routinely lectures at national and international scientific forums. Before founding his specialty practice, Dr. Kim spent more than 15 years on faculty at the University of Florida as a tenured Full Professor of Small Animal Surgery. He played a central role in the clinical training of over 100 veterinary students annually and mentored junior faculty along with numerous surgical interns and residents. Dr. Kim has received multiple honors for his contributions, including designation as Expertscape’s Top World Expert in the Stifle and Hind Limb. He is also among the first veterinary surgeons recognized as an ACVS Founding Fellow in both Joint Replacement Surgery and Minimally Invasive Orthopedic Surgery.

  • Tracy

    Dr. Tracy Webb received her DVM degree from The Ohio State University followed by a small animal medicine and surgery internship and an emergency and critical care residency at Angell Animal Medical Center.  Tracy then moved to Colorado where she received a PhD in Pathology (Immunology) and then stayed to continue doing clinical research, clinical work, and mentoring students. Tracy is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University and manages veterinary and translational regulatory affairs in the Office of the Vice President for Research.  She is also a Distinguished Fellow in the National Academies of Practice, chair of the Clinical and Translational Science Award One Health Alliance (COHA) Communication and Collaboration subcommittee, past chair and on the Board of Directors of the North American Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Association, and involved in various projects, committees, and initiatives to support and perform quality and sustainable veterinary research to improve patient outcomes.

  • Wanda

    Dr. Wanda Gordon-Evans obtained her DVM in 2000 from the University of Missouri. Following graduation, she completed an internship at Kansas State University, a small animal surgery residency and PhD in Biomedical Sciences at Iowa State University leading to board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Since that time, she has worked in both private practice and at academic institutions publishing research in multiple areas. In 2015, she became boarded by the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Gordon-Evans is currently the Tata Endowed Professor in small animal orthopedic surgery at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where she practices clinics, and trains students, interns, and residents in small animal surgery and sports medicine and rehabilitation. Her research is varied with an emphasis in outcome measure development and refinement for clinical trials.
